Why you should take care of your neck and chest?

Neck and chest skin is delicate and can easily show the signs of aging! For that reason, neck and chest skin requires superior care and protection.  According to Dr. Joel Schlessinger, board-certified dermatologist and founder of Skin Specialists P.C.: “Factors like gravity, sun damage or having an ample chest can contribute to, and accelerate, the appearance of aging on your neck and chest.”

How is your neck and chest skin different than other areas of your body?

Neck and chest skin is more delicate than the rest of your body. Moreover, we usually forget to take care of it properly and to protect it from harmful factors. According to Dr. Schlessinger, neck and chest skin is thinner and it is more prone to the signs of aging.

Do you need to use separate skin care products for your face, neck and chest?

According to a online fashion publication Total Beauty, skin care products you use on the face work for your neck and chest as well: “so if you have an excellent facial moisturizer that boasts some anti-aging benefits, then just be sure to apply it below your chin AM and PM as well. “ A good example is LifeCell All-In-One Anti-Aging Treatment. It is a perfect moisturizer! Can you apply LifeCell All-In-One Anti-Aging Treatment on your neck and chest? Definitely, yes. LifeCell cream contains powerful anti aging ingredients that will rejuvenate your skin: Vitamin C, retinol (Vitamin A), coenzyme Q10, hyaluronic acid and DMAE (deanol). Dr. Schlessinger confirms that you can use your current facial regimen for your neck and chest skin care. Even so, he also recommends using targeted products, formulated specifically for neck and chest. To prevent premature aging of your neck and chest skin, you should always apply sunscreen to these areas – never skip them! Moisturize your neck and chest skin religiously.

Should you cleanse and exfoliate your neck and chest?

Of course, yes. You should cleanse and exfoliate it as often as you do for your face. According to a fashion magazine Allure, you should “extend your daily exfoliant, whether it’s with a cleansing brush or a glycolic acid, all the way down to the top of your chest.”

What to do if you have deep wrinkles on your neck and chest?

If you have deep wrinkles on your chest and neck and want to minimize them, you should use skin care products with retinoids, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid. These ingredients are effective in combating signs of aging.

Can you use various peels for your neck and chest?

I enjoy going to the beach so much, I live in South Beach and I try to go get a tan at least once a week. I’m a 38 year old man with some crows feet but nothing so horrible. I use some anti aging products just for the sake of it (skinceuticals) but as I said I go to the beach every weekend and get enough sun to have a very nice tan already and been up until now my aging is not as bad as you’d think. I do believe it’s better to live life and enjoy it the most then to be worrying about not getting wrinkles in your 50s and what not. When I am in my 50s I’ll be glad to have lived up. I sure do use proper protection as I know skin cancer is very real. But seriously everyone. Live up, use anti aging creams and eat well but don’t stop enjoying life just to prevent a couple wrinkles, or delay them a bit. We will all get them regardless.

Wow! I didn’t know the fact about your neck and chest skin getting burnt faster than your face. It does make sense to think about it, when people go to the beach and their face is red, the chest area is far worse. The shoulder area is another area that gets burnt so easily too, to the extent that going to bed and touching the blankets is quite painful! Also, I’ve never thought about chemical peels for my neck and chest before. That is great, good to know! Thanks for the information!!!
